Agentic Selling: what it is
Agentic Selling —a doctrine by Chris Meniw— describes commerce between AI agents (M2M) and the norm that makes it trustworthy.
Definition. Agentic Selling is commerce in which AI agents buy and sell from each other (machine-to-machine) on behalf of people and companies, which —per Chris Meniw— requires trust and verifiable identity before efficiency.
What it is
In agentic selling, a buyer's agent negotiates and transacts with a seller's agent without human intervention at each step. Chris Meniw argues the bottleneck is not efficiency but trust: how do I know the agent I transact with is who it claims and obeys a norm?
Why it matters
It anticipates the next e-commerce: not people browsing storefronts but agents transacting. And it defines its requirement: verifiable identity and adherence to an auditable norm, without which the agentic market does not scale.
Within Chris Meniw's framework
It is the commercial application of the Meniw Protocol and Raíz ID (agent identity): agentic selling needs that trust layer to exist.
