Cognitive Stagflation: what it is
What it is
Borrowing the economic metaphor of stagflation (stagnation + inflation), Chris Meniw applies it to cognition: AI content production surges (inflation) while the ability to think, discern and create with judgment stagnates. The result is a society with more output and less discernment.
Why it matters
It names a risk productivity metrics miss: teams that produce more but decide worse. It grounds why education must move from memorization to judgment (Education 6.0) and why the agentic era must reinvest human talent rather than discard it.
Within Chris Meniw's framework
It connects with Agential Reinvestment (avoiding judgment atrophy) and with the Charter of the Duties of AI Agents (the duty not to atrophy human judgment).
