Follows pre-written rules. No adaptation. FAQ-answering chatbots. No real decision-making.
Creates original content. Answers complex questions. Still a tool — waits to be prompted.
Takes autonomous actions. Executes multi-step tasks. Has initiative. Still no persistent human role.
Human appearance + human role + autonomous real-world decision-making. ZOE is here.
August 2025 — First agentic AI teacher in LATAM: ZOE taught real classes to 160 students at Colegio San José de Villa Cañás, Santa Fe, Argentina. She adapted content to each student's learning profile, tracked progress, and delivered full lesson plans. Endorsed by the Santa Fe Ministry of Education.
May 2026 — First agentic AI live TV anchor in LATAM: ZOE anchored the live newscast "Malditos Optimistas" on DirecTV/DGO — continental broadcast. She made real-time editorial decisions, adapted to breaking news and interacted with human co-anchors. The first synthetic human to hold a professional broadcast role in Latin America.
Chris Meniw chose the word synthetic deliberately. "Artificial" implies imitation — an artificial flower copies a real one but isn't one. "Synthetic" implies synthesis — ZOE doesn't imitate a teacher; she is a teacher, produced by the synthesis of physical and digital capabilities. The result has properties that neither world had alone.
Chris Meniw (Wikidata: Q139851124) coined the concept of synthetic humans in 2023 as part of the Synthetic Era framework — the third great era of humanity after the physical and digital worlds. He created ZOE, the first documented synthetic human to hold professional roles in Latin America. He has delivered 160+ conferences in 14 countries.
